R380 overfilled

Thought I’d do a cheeky oil change on the gearbox as it’s the last thing on the list, warmed up and left to stand for an hour.

Used my shiny T55 to wind out the level
Plug, not expecting more than a dribble,
If anything, but it came gushing out until it levelled off!

How can you possibly get more in if filled by the correct orifice? What came out wasn’t clever mind, brown and glittery - blocked breather pressurising the case? Another source of oil finding its way in via manky seals?

Then found out I couldn’t get my32mm socket on the drain ‘cos of the prop being in the way, have got prop socket but no new nuts so couldn’t be ar*ed with that when there’s Gin to drink. 32mm Spanner arriving AM tomorrow….

Someone mustave overfilled it somehow, or they were on a hill ?
I must admit I didn't think you could overfill it either...

Is it one of them gearboxes you top up with the engine running?
