R380 gearbox noise

I had it in low range on a field and drove it up to 5th gear. It seemed to make a wine especially when letting off the throttle. Is this normal? I don't want to put it in my defender unless I know it's right. TIA

You do know the r380 has a longer bellhousing & the box will sit further back so mods will be needed
to convert long stick to short & the gear stick will further back.

Yes I would say quite normal, from memory, my older ones certainly howl in low range, even my D3 does the same.
