Hi Guys,
I'm rebuilding my gearbox and having replaced the oil pump. I find that tightening the 3 screws to the required torque, it's compressing the soft silicon gasket causing the oil pump cover plate to bind against the driving gear and driven gear. The original part had a much harder plastic gasket.
Any advice please.

Thought I better post the outcome of my issue, just in case someone else comes here looking with the same issue.

I think there are a number of incorrectly assembled R380 gear box oil pumps (FTC4206) kicking about.

Replacement Oil pump contains a soft silicon gel ring only. Initially, I thought this was a superceded part but when the plate is tightened to spec, this is squashed and drive gear and driven gear bind against the plate stopping the oil pump rotating. ==> 20160606_120733.jpg

This was the same situation despite ordering from two different suppliers and one supplier ordering in from multiple sources.

The pump should contain a much thicker gasket to maintain a gap between the gears and back plate when tightened to 9nm. ==> P1090480.jpg Luckily the second supplier shipped out the gasket FOC.

was this binding when pump was fitted to a built box or as pump alone

The torx screws in the oil pump were only done up finger tight.
It was binding when fitted to the gearbox and torqued down to the correct setting.

I've just stripped my 380 and it all looks OK, so I'll put an overhaul kit into it.

One snag. The oil pump. The three smaller (T20) Tork screws are so tight that I've snapped two Torx bits. Two questions. Does the pump need a good looking at - I have little idea of what's in it - and secondly, where do you buy top quality Torx bits.?
