Freelander 1 Quieter v6 running after main dealer visit

After my recent trip to the main dealers I noticed ma hippo's v6 is quieter on tickover. Even when you start it from cold and it rev's higher for several minutes to warm itself up quicker it's still quieter when doing so. It's always quieter after being driven and up to temp when compared to when it's cold. Previously when he was serviced by the main dealer he would always come back quieter. I put it down to the service work carried out but they only resynchronised his immobilisers rolling code with the engine computer this time. Hence all they did was test book T4 stuff this time and no service work. But he's gone quieter again from when I collected him. What would they have done/adjusted? I don't have a problem with it. Would just like to know.

Plugged in test book T4, checked for the P1672 fault code and synchronised the immobiliser computer to the engine computer, then did things like test it starts which it wouldn't do previously.

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkk for those that know what the hell that means, no need for all the techy stuff. Simple layman's terms would be nice

Plugged the pooter in ...

Checked that the vehicle hadn't thrown the toys out ...

Made sure it does what it's supposed to do ...

Gave it back in a swap for some dosh ...

The immobiliser and engine computers both have a secrete code which changes. They both know how to calculate the next code from the one they currently have, for the next time it starts. Or something like that. My hawkeye deleted or changed the code so I needed them to correct this using their full access diagnostic computer. They sorted out the codes but at the same time my hippo became quieter. That will be due to something else they did.
 
well, it's possible that connecting it to testbook cleared all the fault codes, learnt values and buffers, so when you start driving it again, it is in a period of "learning"

we (scarily) have it quite often with control equipment, just by connecting a laptop and emptying the event log they speed up in their operation quite noticeably.
 
The only fault code in it referred to the immobiliser issue. I removed everything else with me hawkeye previously, and nothing came back over many miles. I'm wondering if they have the ability to somehow calibrate the injection cycle via test book or similar to make it tick over smoother when cold or warm. I know they disconnected the battery as part of the work they did.
 
They have probably just carried out a dtc clear. If there was the odd spurious dtc stored, which is very very common. Then clearing it might have altered some parameters inside the ecu, which were previously inhibited. Its extremely uncommon to have no soft fault dtc's stored. Comms errors, false flags, signal high/signal lows, can all be flagged from cold starts, low bv at crank etc.

That's kinda clutching at straws, but them magic boxes be clever stuffs.
