hi guiys

my p38 is at my mates garage having new track rod and drag link assemblys and steering damper put on, and new tyres

it had a pull to the left and was wearing outer edge of front tyre

someone mentioned on here about loosening then centering the steering box with the steering wheel etc, i asked them to do that, ive just spoke to him and hes fitted all the bits but couldnt quite work that box bit out ??

can anyone please advise so i can let him know by the morning when they crack on with it

and also any other advice for them to check to sort out the steering and tracking so all is good

thanks

(i cant wait to get it back all driving nice its been terrible latley but wanted to get the last bit out of the tyres before replacing them)

1st: Adjust tracking first: 0-2.00mm toe-out by adjusting tracking rod behind front axle
2nd: Disconnect draglink to steering box drop arm and center the steering box-align marks on side of box ( or marks on output shaft to steering column ) . Check Steering box for play and adjust if necessary
3rd: Refit draglink to steering box drop arm and Adjust drag link to center steering wheel .
There is a step by step guide with diagrams in RAVE manual

ps: Unless all bushes, shocks, track rod ends, swivel hub pins are in perfect order you will still have vague/wandering steering

Normal considering kerb weight of the vehicle and nature/direction of UK roundabouts. If you have large tyre walls the wear will be quicker. New tyre will help with the pull.
If you ever feel the urge, check the NSF tyres of taxis and minicabs.

Might be going around them to quickly. Knowing the way minicabs drive around here. Bloody nutters most of them. :D:D

V8HSE- THANKS MAN !!! is that the lot ??

, i dont drive it quickly, i take it easy, but it does pull to the effect your moving around in the lane on the motorway like your a drink driver at times  its hard to keep straight or if so the wheel is not straight

thanks mate ive text it to him

im not sure what its all like, last time it was in there he said it was all good but needed a new track rod long- but i aid have a good look at the bushes and everything under there today and he hasnt said anything else needs doing , since the steering damper has got worse, so i bought complete new track rod and drag link assemblys and a damper, so im hoping that will sort it out and make it better/ sort of normal, its definatly not been right, i had a new clutch recently and ive since sorted a few little bits out too , so its all comming together now

i just need to sort the heated seat before winter and then fix the air con
