After reading posts about lack of power, not reving above, etc.... it got me thinking about my landy a 300tdi auto import.

When I floor it to overtake it will not go above around 3250rpm before changing up. Is this normal or do others rev further?

Only asking because it feels like it still has power to rev further up the range and it is cutting itself short before changing gear.

That's about where I upshift in the manual when I'm booting it .. holding onto the revs in the diesel won't help get you anywhere faster as it dies quite quickly. It will rev more it just won't accelerate much faster, and changing up llows it to accelerate again .. ;)

Cheers for that Paul, I just wasnt sure. :)

I have no problems with the landy pulling away and power for overtaking but I recently read a couple of threads about not reving above 4000rpm and had a quick google for power and torque curves but couldnt find anything. One thing I like about autos is protection for over-revving but didnt know if mine was under-revving (if thats even a term)

Mine revs freely right through to ~4500, but it isn't worth it .. all it does is creep up to speed and makes more noise!

I do sometimes hold onto third or fourth when towing and going uphill simply 'cos of the lack of power if I change up, but most gear on road changes are made between 3000 and 3500 rpm.
