Hi, I had a Discovery Mk2 which came to me with a full size roofrack. I now want to sell the rack and a potential buyer has asked if it would fit a LR Disco 3 door model, 1990. I think it should, but any advice would be much appreciated.

The Disco 2 is longer than the disco 1 so depending on the shape (is it a safety devices rack?) and the position of the fixings it may be too big.

Measure the distance from the front fixing to the back fixing and send them to your potential buyer. He can measure his gutters and see if they are long enough for your rack.

The dimensions between the SI and SII disco's is minor, the gutter width and roof height are the same only the length is different. Our roof racks are designed to fit both models. However if the footprint (the part in the gutter) is to the extremes of the gutter on the SII it will be tight on the SI. HTH.

Ok, ignore, my previous post! Up to late and all that, lol.

Depending on whos rack it is (which manufacturer) it could be made to fit. Ours would be to remove the leg assemblies and then attach with a block system in the roof channel. We have converted other manufacturers products too. But I wouldn't recommend it. The D3 has an entirely different method for mounting roof products.

It is better to use the rack on the vehicle it was intended.

Yella: Thanks for the correction.
