My current turbo has some reasonable play in the shaft/bearings, so I'm planning to rebuild it with an uprated hybrid core from Turbo Rebuild.

I currently have a "stage 1" remap from Alive on the truck, but no other engine mods.

I'd rather not have to get the ECU remapped again, so will I be ok to go ahead with the turbo upgrade without making any other changes?

Any pointers appreciated
Cheers

Do you have any symptoms of a failing turbo? lt's normal to have a small amount of side to side play in the bearings.

Changing a major component without retuning it wont have the affect youre looking for.

Nor will fitting a "hybrid core" they arnt proper hybrids, just slightly different fins and or lighter.

Proper hybrids have larger hot and cold sides and properly balanced.

Equally you cant just slap on an "upgraded" turbo without supporting mods such as a larger intercooler etc..

Assuming I did some mod, such as uprated intercooler or turbo, that gets more air into the engine, wouldn't the ECU pick up from the MAF that more air is coming in and then increase the fueling accordingly, therefore resulting in better performance?
