I will like it best when it's back running and ok ! Lol. I am starting to think it's an inherent fault as the 'E' and the ' I' on the relevant cam pulleys were on when I removed the timing case! Typical

indeed, lol , did wonder that and assumed u had marked them inlet /exhaust , will u have to get the head skimmed or won’t know till it’s off

as another side note this is the fuel pump belt at the back of the engine that a lot of garages refuse to replace , as they say they have to remove the body, which simply isn’t true , i watched it being replaced by a skilled mechanic in under an hour who knew all the little tricks

don’t forget some more pics plse if u get chance

Got the head off and on close inspection a crack is evident in the head gasket near the forth cylinder - I will send the head away for pressure test and a quick skim R lass made the following which was delicious

great pics there and thks for sharing , hows the cams , do u ever put a high lift in or not worth it

have they improved the head gasket or is that a trate of the puma engine

at least ur able to work in the warm and dry and isn’t too serious , apart from being a pain having to get all new gaskets and head bolts , assume there stretch ones

a very interesting post :D

PS , enjoy ur streak and chips o_O

:pDon't think this is a common fault to be fair, I will de - coke the head and have it fully checked out, The steak was a picanha and was fab :p

just wondered if they had an updated one , seeing time has gone by

still remember my dad teaching me how to use the fine and course paste on the valves, then trying to get the bleeding valves to stay stuck on the rubber stick, lol

see , i wouldn’t have known that , all my dinners go ping o_O

The only thing that makes a meal good - is if you enjoy it ! Aye the old valve lap ! Long time since I done any but feel sure I won't enjoy it! Loi

So the motor is all stripped with the pump sent off for testing just to be sure all ok

Big thanks to @gemsdad who put me in touch with an amazing guy from a company called Engine Tekniks's - who replaced the valve seats and cut the valves further into the head to compensate for the 6 thou he skimmed from the head - all pressure tested and Reany for the refit
