My 53 defender td5 was misfiring after start up and sometimes not starting at all, everything is as normal.... fuel pump kicks in and pressured up, when i go to start it starts but dies immeadiatley, or misfires then dies. then when i try n restart... nothing from pump. after a few turns of the key it eventually starts but then will misfire when idle. MIL comes on momentarily when this occours but then disappears
Most times shes spot on and nothing happens but then all of a sudden it will go through a phase, ive noticed its worse when damp wet or cold.
i have tried everything i can think of, there was oil in loom so changed harness and checked ECU (which was clean as a whistle) and the car was fine ever since. changed fuel pressure regulator too. i have checked fuel pump and around fuel filter and everything seems ok. however there is still oil in the loom from engine to ecu. Could this be my problem?

Any help appreciated as ive been trying to solve this bastard of a conundrum for over 6 months , every single garage i take it to is stumped as diagnostics show no faults at all :s..... please help :(

I missed this bit, you might need to clean out the oil and tighten the connections and or replace the injector loom.

But it could still be the connectors or the ignition switch
