I stopped my p38 yesterday and a stream of water(clear liquid) poured out into the passenger footwell.

It seemed to come from where the electric socket thingy is under the glve box?

Any ideas what it was and how do I stop it doing it again

Many thanks

Si

it could be from yer A/C if the drains are blocked. if so you'll have to locate them from underneath the vehicle (usually clear tubes, one either side) and push a piece of wire up them to clear the blockage.

Thanks for the swift replies. I shall be on my back over the weekend to find said holes!!

Erm where are these pipes???? Had a good look and only found a rather rusty caked in mud spare key.....

Directions needed please

Thanks
Si

they are located along the side of the "bell housing" according to my local RR expert - asked him y/day - 2 rubber nipples which get clogged up, just need to clear them with a long stick or somthing ,, ahem ahem ... nudge nudge wink wink ..... sorry cant be more helpful than that, cos you are talking to the least technically minded person on here !!!!!!!!!!

Right-o ......How am I gonna explain that I'm flat on me back searching for two nipples which I'm gonna poke with me stick...to the missus:D

Good luck explaining that one to her

I also have been stricken with the same problem

Puddle in foot well & i cant find those nipples either - bell housing ? no idea!

Also my passenger side air venys blow hot air no matter what & the fault symbol is displayed - could this all be linked?

any ways if any one does find these nipples i'd be grateful

good luck

Hi - Further info on drains for the air con.
from under the vehicle looking up at the floor pan where it goes over the gear box above the Bell housing -
(the bit of the gearbox where it joins the engine and is shaped a bit like a bell laying on its side)
- The drain will look like a round bung about 20 p sized with a star shape of cuts in it. poke about with a short blunt phillips screwdriver to release the water there is one each side but it is usually the passenger side that blocks and I now know why.

with the passenger door open kneel ouside the car and look for the electrical socket (probably dripping) to the right of this between the glove box and the center consol above the carpet line is a gap where if you prod about you will find a short corrigated rubber hose this is the drain.
The reason it blocks is that it is too long and is kinked. if you pull the top down it will come off the heater box tube cut 10mm from the end and refit - it will now curve gently and drain properly
whilst kinked it would drain clean water but after a build up of dust and dirt it gets blocked at the kink.
when it is off if you feed a lenth of electrical wire down the drain it will appear below the car pull it through from the bottom to rod it out.

thanks very very much wantaquad, that is a great help, as I have had it unblocked from underneath, but now sort it once and for all .... very informative, many thanks ... sorry for delay of reply!

thanks, much appreciated wantaquad, found the nipples & yes the passenger one was blocked. Found the tube too (bit fiddly but what isn't)

great advice thanks again, pockers

Now to try to solve the problem of constant hot ait blowing from passenger side - time to start a new thread on air con.
