currently in the middle of dropping the prop on the freelander an d have come a bit unstuck..front prop bolts were (relitavely) no problem, but the ones on the rear diff are a different story! on closer inspection a couple of the e12 torx bolts were all chewed, and alarm bells started ringing. the 17m nuts on the other side are rounded and seem to be of a different composition to the fronts,as they are much softer. would i be right in thinking someones bodged a second set of nuts? anyone got an idea as to how to get them off without rounding them any further? looks like its gonna be a pig of a job as i cant get enough clearance to get a socket to them

Hello..
Only thing if they are really bad would be Vice grips or one of those plumber wrenches which i have used before...

Final solution angle grind the head of and pop them out as they are just a straight through bolt..
Then buy nice new ones with lock nuts.. NOT TORX,...:D

irwin sell a set of nut/bolt extractors which go on the end of a socket, and they have a reverse screw thread cut into them, so they muller their way into the nut or bolt then undo it.

good luck
