prop cv joint thingy

after reading through the searches it seems a lot of advice tells people to take care when removing front prop so the cv joint doesn't over flex!!

if my mechanic overflexed my joint when replacing my VCU and damaged it could this be the source of my new whining noise?

how does thus part break if overflexed? anyone got a pic of how they work?
