Hi, Currently have a F1 as my daily but I am looking to start a new project, Found a couple I am interested in but I will be looking for a new chassis d1/RRC/D2 can anyone help on where to look? Or are people looking for chassis too? What vehicles out of the 3 are people restoring?
Thanks.

Richards chassis

D1 disappearing quick, early ones worth a bit.
RRC getting expensive but worth it.
D2 disappearing and just starting to climb in value after bottoming out.

All have pluses and minuses, all up to you.

Thanks!
I would like to restore something that is not going to drop in value I suppose.

Depends on what you can afford.

SOME RRC components are getting NLA especially interior.
D1 have now stablised, not many around now.
D2 where D1 was a couple of years ago, people are just starting to realise they are disappearing quick.

I don't think any of them will drop in value if you buy them right but how much you need to spend on them to make them worth anything is the big question that will depend on the condition of the project to start with. You could spend 20k doing up a project that is only worth 10k when done.

Buy BitCoin then lol

You can buy a good and decent vehicle for sensible money and then end up spending a boat load of cash on it and before you know it the price will be many times what you paid and it'll be worth a fraction of the cost in getting it straight and right with correct and period trim, options etc,. Even a good solid vehicle will need a decent amount of cash spent on it to get it to a standard where it won't be falling to bits in a few years time, D2 chassis etc, they need the body removed and shot blasted, repainted/galvanised, axles, steering and suspension needs to be shot blasted and painted to stop it from deteriorating any further and reducing the value, if you want top dollar when it comes to resale then it needs to be 100% right, straight and true otherwise buy a shed of a vehicle and rag the pants off it off road an scrap it when you're done.

I think we've all seen the old Series 1 and 2 ads on eBlag for £30,000 and fancied some of that action but to get a vehicle to that standard takes a heck of a lot of time and skill or a boat load of cash to pay someone else to do it for you.

Rebuild something you love the look of because, it's a labour of love! You could well run out of steam otherwise. Then you're well out of pocket with a dead project filling the garage and many other spaces!

Thank you all! I have been looking into the vehicles and narrowed it down to RRC or D1 ;) They both need chassis work if this is too much for repair where can I buy a replacement chassis from?

I'd get a limited model given the choice certainly if it's a discovery. You should be able to pick one up with a decent chassis as they seem a little less prone to rot than d2's
My 50th anniversary one was 510 quid for instance

I have just spent nearly £2k on saving an N reg ES. That doesn’t include my time. I hope the car will be a long term keeper for my son. On the look out for a 50th anniversary next!!!!
