Hello to everyone.

First of all great forum

I have recently purchased my first Landrover a 05 Freelander Td4 three door. Great car.

However I have a problem. I was traveling home today when the rear wiper decided to stop/park in mid cycle.

I can operate the wiper via the switch on the dash, but it refuses to 'park' usually stopping at the vertical position so I am unable to open the rear window.:(

I am able to open and close the rear tailgate as normal, but with the summer upon us I want to lower the rear window.
Can anyone help me in identifying the problem is it a) wiper motor is on its way out or b) CCU??? which I think is located within the motor???.

I have checked the fuses, all are OK

Last of all any ideas on the best place(s) to purchase the required parts

PLEASE HELP

Hi & welcome,

The rear wiper circuitry is quite complex and comprises:

The Motor

Twin relay unit (for motor polarity/rotation direction control)

CCU (controls most vehicle systems and lives behind under dash fusebox)

If you are prepared to remove the taildoor interior you could check all motor connections.

You could take off the wiper arm temporarily whilst seeking a solution.

With rear wiper 'on' switching off 'ign' should allow you to 'park' it at the bottom of the screen. You could then pull out rear wiper fuse or disconnect motor.
