Problems with my dials

Just after a little bit of advice. I have changed the bulbs on my dials, and had to disconnect them to remove the lenses.

now I have reconnected them the fuel and heating is reading high and battery charge not at all.

I have looked through the wiring diagrams and they seem to be connected properly.

so was wondering if anyone who has their dash off could let me know what colour wires go where and how they are earthed.

looks like you lost the earth to the dials, what model fender is it, 200tdi earth point is behing dials, towards the left IIRC, on 300 its under the bonnet to the right of the servo (as you look at it)

Hi there, thanks for your help. its a 200tdi. think the previous owner has botched a lot of electrical bits on to it, central locking, alarm etc.

so the earthing point is by the speedo. I seem to have one black wire left on the battery charge dial.

are the dials all earthed to one another??

afaik, yes, the fuel n temp need a + and - and the sender wire, disconnect the -ve they go full scale, the battery obv just needs a + &- no - and it wont read at all.

if theres botched stuff in there, be careful.

cheers for your help with this. will be doing it over the weekend.

botched in alarm and central locking. so trying to avoid them as much as possible.
