Freelender Tailgate window problem - I've just seen and joined your site - hoping that someone may be able to help please!

My loyal (usually reliable) 2003 Freelander TD4 5-door Auto which I've had for 8 years had its battery disconnected last week as the battery was to be charged overnight. When the battery was replaced, all was well until later that day I went to use the boot and opened the tailgate door. On shutting the tailgate door the tailgate glass window went down a little and would not go back up when the door was closed. On opening and shutting the door several times this only made matters worse as it just kept sending the window further down each time and it's now fully open! I understand the calibration process and have tried this, but when closing the window ( with either button on dash inside or using key in tailgate lock) the motor works and the glass raises fully - then 2 bleeps and it sends the glass all the way back down again! Any advice please as I'm having to cover the back of the car with plastic sheeting while parked to stop snow getting in and I'm freezing when driving it! Any suggestions welcome! Many Thanks
