Problems - to much electrical load?

Hi, firstly a warning - I'm no expert! I've had a bit of a play under my dads advice over the phone and discovered a few problems - the way to fix these problems is why I'm here!

I have a 93 Vogue LSE on LPG (Single point). I picked her up a couple of weeks ago and all seemed well until it got cold and I discovered the problems!

When running on gas and too much current is drawn (the other morning i had heated front / rear screens on, lights, radio etc) when i squirted the windscreen washer it pushed it over the edge and all power is lost from the engine until the current draw is dropped again. With no real load - the car runs fine!

Having looked into it today (in the light) the battery kicks out about 12.5v when the engine is off, the battery then increases to 13.6v (ish) when idle (no real change when revving) this drops to below 12v (about 11.8ish) when on gas and when the bits above are all turned on. At this point the engine dies. If on petrol - it doesn't seem to make a difference - the voltage drops but only to about 12.2v. I also put the multimeter across the alternator and that seems to kick out about 14v - which according to the internet is about right. Now I'm really confused and my knowledge (albeit limited) runs out. I'm not sure if it is the battery, alternator, gas system, ECU - really don't know!

Also, might be a contributing factor - i seem to be getting less than 10mpg - cost me £50 to do 150 miles on gas the other day - either the guy I bought it from was telling porkies and this is all i can expect (he told me £50 would do 300 miles), or there is something else wrong - may be connected?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers - and Happy Christmas!!!!

PS - sorry cant spell! should read too much electrical load!

Just been doing some more research - does anyone have any thoughts on either the Lambda sensor, or LPG ECU causing this kind of problem?
