Hi Guys, I have a problem raising the air suspension on my RR Vogue 2003. This happened after changing the battery ( I don't know if changing the battery is the cause, or it is a red hereing).
I have reconditioned the compressor with a piston ring kit, from X8R on ebay.
This has made the compressor a lot quiter and it is quicker to respond but unfortunately it has not resolved the issue.
I can lower the suspension which returns to normal ride hight when I drive off.
I have just had all the suspension recalibrated and fault codes read and reset.
I have left the car running for 15 minutes with the drivers door open so the pressure can build up but again not the solution. I dread having to fork out for a new compressor, when it seems to be working fine.
Has anyone got any ideas/solutions. Thanks.

I've read its often leaks I the air bags which only last 50-60k, worth checking before replacing compressor. I don't own a RR but thought I'd chip in..

But I can't see that you have siad what your 'issue' is? Could you elaborate?

Pete
Hi Pete, thanks for your prompt reply.
Let me try and be a bit more specific. When I turn the raise/ lower switch on the air suspension to the left, the car will lower and the orange light flashes and then remains constant. When I turn the switch to the right to raise the suspension nothing happens, no change to the orange light.
To get the car back to normal ride height I have to drive the car for about 2 minutes and the orange light flashes, then the car returns to normal ride hight. The indicator at the normal ride height then remains constant and the lower level orange light indictor goes out.
As I explained in my original thread, I have had the error codes read and suspension recalibrated. There were some error codes that came up on the reader. I am unaware if these are historical error codes that have not been reset. Once the codes were cleared and the car was driven again for about 5 minutes and put back on the tester there were no error codes.
The only error code that came up on first reading was 'Compressor Temperature Sensor Fault'.
What the mechanic could not understand was, when the car was driven after reset and calibrated, this fault code did not return, ergo not a current issue. He was unable to offer any solutions as to the causal effect of my air suspension raising problem. Hense why I am now trying to get some alternative ideas/solutions from anyone who has also experienced this problem, or my have the 'know how' where I should be looking. Thanks.

Thanks Hubby84, for your reply. When I took the car to the garage to have the suspension system checked, on the computer and recalibrated, if there was an air loss issue, the computer would have indicated this and would not of been able to recalibrate the system. This is what the mechanic told me. I don't know if this is true but logic tells me, if the car is lowering and returning to normal ride height when driving, the air bags should be O.K. Also I am not getting any of the known signs of air bag leaking, for example, one corner lower than the others, or hissing.. When I did my research on the net to try and resolve this problem myself, I found out that it is often the front near side air bag that causes problems. This is because of battery acid leakage and rubbing on the air hose that feeds this area.

How about changing the dash switch for a known good one. The car will rise or lower if it is extended when it is driven so perhaps the switch is at fault. See if you can pick one up off the Bay as they are expensive.

Thanks Alan, I will consider that. Is there any way of testing the switch? I have already thought this might be the issue.

I don't know mate, I believe itsnot straight forward switch and has lots of electricery magic inside.:)
O.K thanks. I have tried looking for one of these switches but have not yet found one. I will continue my quest.
Has any one out there in the Landy community got any pointers, as to were to get one, other than a main dealer.

Hi Alan I found the switch system you directed me to but this is not the one for my RR Vogue 2003. My one is a round dial with a small tag on that you turn to the left to lower the RR, or to the right to make it raise. It also has three small round indicators that turn orange when the desired height is reached.

Hi Alan you were right it was the switch.
After further exploration I was adviced to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, reconnect the battery. I then got the error message come up that 'air suspension is inactive' therefore I reset this by turning the steering wheel full lock to the left, then full lock to the right. Then with a wiggle of the switch and then ha-presto, up it went and like wise down it went, like a rocket.
The renovation of the compressor was not a waist of time, it is now as quite as a mouse and as fast a rocket.
