Hi
Have had the RSW software to adjust suspension for a while. Not altogether successful but have managed to change height values.

Using windows 7 with serial port adaptor. Get good idle and usually comes up with no faults apart from vehicle moved.

Used to be able to adjust heights but this now doesn't seem to be responding even though get good idle.

have checked all connections which seem ok.
Would be grateful for any help.

With Win 7, it's possible to get Good Idle even with no EAS communication if the USB to serial adaptor or driver is faulty. Which tab are you using to adjust the heights?

Win7 only really likes the Ft232 chips...ensure your USB/Serial cable uses one of these chipsets

That's not quite true Ant, the Prolific chip is good but many of the adaptors do not implement the RS232 control lines fully. The EAS requires RTS, this is often missing. I have purchased a few and pulled them apart.

Agreed...There is a bit of software available from FTDI (or is it FDTI ??) that allows you to switch the RTS and the other do-dad over (RXD or TXD or something like that) to allow the protocol to communicate correctly ( learnt all this fecking ages ago when I was trying to get a cable to comms with my E38 7'er.....you reckon the P38 is difficult to talk too....try a mid season BMW when the changed from ADS 20 pin to 16 pin OBD and the car you have is fitted with both!)

Many thanks for all the imput on this one. Noted comments re the adaptor lead and will get a new one and try again. Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks again

Apologies Datatek for not responding to your question about which tab, got caught up in the talk about cables. Not too sure what you mean by tab but I click on the calibrate box at the top. Have watched the training videos several times and I think I'm following them correctly. grateful for your thoughts on this.
many thanks
