Hi. I am having a problem starting my landy. When starting from cold after a few days i have to keep the glow plugs on for around 30secs to a minute before firing her up. Sometimes the battery runs flat if someone starts it who isnt used to it. Would this be a new set if glow plugs as i have recently bought a new battery and its great. Any help welcome.
Thanks

Remember not to touch the accelerator until it fires or you'll knock the cold start mechanism off. 30 secs plus of heat is normal on a 2.5 n/a or a td.

have you tried priming the system ?

i had an issue similar -

Was running lumpy post start up

so i changed the fuel filter and primed the system -and from cold - 30 seconds on the plugs turned it over , fired up beautifully !

the next day i tried to start it straight from key - it turned over for about 10 second before it kicked in and i had to hold the key for another 10 seconds to get it to run on its own- but it ran brilliant once going. previous it did the same but once running it would sound like only a couple of cylinders were going

last night i primed the system before starting ..... started after 30secs on key and 1 or 2 turns of the starter.

conclusion - leaky hoses on the fuel system or fapped lift pump letting fuel run back to the tank and the engines turning over to pump fuel up the system ! . changing the lift pump this weekend as i have a delphi one - as ive lost my top end somewhere - topping out at 50mph.

give it ago - costs nothing to try it;)
