pressure in air filter box help!

Hi there. We are new to all this but have an N reg v8 disco and are having problems with the lid blowing off the air filter box (this sounds like a shotgun blast when it happens) This has also now split the pipe from the box and snapped all the clips. This only happens when the engine is under strain towing or accelerating hard. Has anyone else had this problem, any advice would be much appreciated.

That would be a back fire, is it running on LPG?

Yes it runs on lpg.

Yes it does, seems to be boiling the water, then blowing off the the lid to the air filter box.

This does seem to be the problem. if i run it just on petrol, will this stop the problem for the short term?

My old RRC used to back fire now and then, usually when pulling away quickly from a stand still, it never did do it on petrol; is it single point LPG injection (big silver thing in the air intake pipe) or multi point (separate small pipes going to each inlet pipe).

Might be worth getting the LPG system checked out after you've ran it on petrol for long enough to be sure it is just backfiring on LPG

change plugs ,leads,cap ,rotor arm etc ignition system needs to be spot on for lpg shows before it does on petrol
