Prep my disco 2 for green laning advice please

So I've had the TD5 for a few weeks now and fancy doing the odd lane. I dont want to lift the body or anything drastic but would like to get some toys on it.

I use the disco daily, and enjoy the current refinement and road handling it offers so i wouldnt want to make any changes that would take away from the way it drives now.

what would be a good list of mods? if you know the price of an item or have a link then please pop it on here so i can look through.

As for wheels and tires im thinking of getting a spare set for laning and changing back to my road wheels for daily running. so what would be the biggest wheel and tire combo i could fit without any issues?

If you only want do do a bit of Laning with it, leave it as it is. It will cope with most lanes comfortably and still be as you want it on the Tarmac. If you want yo butch it up a bit stick some ATs on it.

Haha well it seems im in for it then, but there are so many options and accessories i thought it best to list what i need out of the disco and get advice from people in the know

Used my D1 last year for green lanning with no mods other than All Terrains. Very pleased at how well it coped. I have bought some goodies which will go on shortly just for piece of mind.....steering guard (From around £60) Diff guards (£30 pair) and as my tank strap is shot away I managed to get a second hand heavy duty guard for £30!! Would like to add some heavy duty bumpers when funds allow but for no reason other than I want too!!!

i could but i think id like to "butch" it up a bit more

Go and try some lanes. If you need to modify, it will soon be obvious what you do and don't need.

Or you can just cover it in spot lights and roof racks you don't need like everyone else

That's the kind of things I was thinking about, I want it to have a few basic mods to give me piece of mind, rather than taking it out, damaging something because it hasn't got a guard on then it end up having to fix something that could have been prevented.

I could, but roof racks do nothing for me

Your D2 will have the CDL already fitted,but not connected,get that working and that will help you immensely.Use d1 parts though,much cheaper to buy.

Yea ive been looking into this and reading up how to do it, shouldn't be too difficult.

Like i said though,use D1 parts as they are much cheaper,than using D2 parts.

Couple of decent recovery straps and recovery points are the main things first. After that tyres are biggest benefit

Get some jate rings, recovery straps, shackles and wading plugs to start with. Fit the straps before you go near water or deep mud cos you don't want to be fiddling about under water trying to attach them if you get stuck. Also be careful of the front bumper they are expensive if you break them.
Then go enjoy yourself

A portable camping stove, frying pan, rolls and bacon... Nothings beats a bacon roll in the middle of nowhere.
