Hi, I have a 2001 V6 Freelander LS, the Viscous coupling (VCU) siezed and managed to eat the IRD unit, so..... I replaced both with fully reconditioned units, When the IRD failed originally some time ago I seem to remember obviously the power was very restricted, but now all the work is complete, the engine will not rev and there is obviously reduced power, despondantly i took it to my local garage who inspected it and suspected the Inlet manifold as it always rattled severely and the indicated fault codes pointed to the VIS motor's, they have changed the inlet manifold complete with VIS motors for an exchange (suposedly guaranteed) unit but it still wont rev, the VIS fault codes still come up, what next ? how can I test the ECU ?
Cheers Figjam.

I suggest looking at the power valve, it could be closed. The Inlet manifold might be an exchange item but if it hasn't been cleaned out of old oil gunk and fitted correctly then it won't work properly and will soon fail yet again, particularly if the VIS motors are on their last legs.
