right folks i need to run a cigar lighter type of thing or inverter to the boot area to run a few extra bits and bobs any ideas how i do this please

Is there not a unused power lead behind the left boot panel?
Failing that just take a spur off the existing cig lighter socket

Boot accessory socket only MY 2000 and on. Power from cig lighter and later boot accessory socket (green cable) comes from pin 5 BECM. 30 AMP max load.

I ran a 4mm line in a sleeve along the top of the chassis rail direct from the battery with a fuse of course. If you are running an inverter you need something meaty as they draw a lot of current.

+ some kind of relay set up so it wont wipe your battery when engine is off
I learnt that the hard way when I had a xbox in the back

was going to put a spare battery in the wheel well and run this type of system to it just incase

From battery via an in line fuse, then under fuse box area down onto chassis rail, run along to the back, up through an existing rubber bung in the O/S rear quarter floor. Cable protected in a plastic tube spot glued to the top of the chassis rail at intervals. Took all of half an hour.prey tell how do i do this

Some thoughts on dual battery installation.
Firstly, the location needs to be vented - above the battery. I don't see how this can be done in the wheel well.
The battery needs to be firmly strapped down. Shouldn't be too difficult.
I really wouldn't want to lose the spare wheel for a second battery. That tyre repair kit might or might not work for a nail that goes straight through and is dealt with quickly, but all too often a nail will not leave such a neat hole by the time the tyre has slowly gone flat.
I think I would probably go for one of those "jump start" type portable batteries, find somewhere in the boot to strap it down. More versatile, and certainly capable of starting a V8 with a totally dead battery if you get a decent one.
