Hi all, sadly not good put the new pipe on blew all the pipes out , no good but have noticed that the fluid turns sort of milky when trying to bleed it the clears again when left. But I think I may have found the problem , when I took the return pipe off that goes from steering box to reservoir no fluid came out of the hole in the steering box it also looked rusty in there blew it out with the air gun then some fluid came out , thought yippee cracked it but sadly not so unless anyone has any ideas I think i will take the steering box off and get it checked out .
Cheers Ian

No probs 8ha just taken box off feels very ropey the old box I took off at the start of the rebuild feels a lot smoother, so to the big decision do I put the old box back on or swap it for a recon then sort the supposedly new one at a later date ?
Cheers Ian

The old one feels very smooth and tight and the previous owner had fitted a new drop arm so am thinking clean it up and spray it and get her on the road then sort the other one out.

yeah get the old box on and see what it does, if it doesnt work or leaks etc you arent any worse off then can get the better of the 2 recon'd or buy a new one or something

cheers 8ha only got till Thursday to take her for retest so think the old box is gonna have to go on got a couple of other jobs to do then will see if they can get me in.

I know know of a guy not too far from you who rebuilds boxes, he has done 2 for me with no issues.
I can dig out the contact details if you need?.
Can't remember the exact area but it's between Wrexham and Chester just off the bypass (A483??) .

Cheers Flossie ordered a recon one last night from Autosteer direct off eBay they're up that way got a 2 year warranty with it. When I started to clean the old one up noticed that were the return pipe screws in it had been wore away on the casing making it very thin and when I took it off must of banged it pushing in the hole triad to gentle tap it out but that totally buggered it:oops: so ordered a recon last night. Am not having much luck with this steering , so will have to send them the so called new box in return . They're from Saltney in Chester might be the same place as your on about Flossie.
Cheers Ian
