hi..got a 53 plate td5 and just noticed an oil leak front passenger side...after inspecting it seems the 2 power steering hoses have been rubbing against each other where they bend, added to the fact they are very rusty, and appear to be dripping....does anyone know if there is a reliable guide as to how to replace them, and if someone of average competance could do it? have been quoted over £300 for local l/r agent to complete...is that exessive? any help appreciated

They are a bolt in item IIRC, no special tools needed. Keep dirt out of open connections and refill slowly until reservoir is full, some steering boxes have a bleed nipple on the top, if so loosen untill fluid come out. Start engine and slowly turn lock to lock a couple of times to get air out.

Recheck levels and check again over a couple of days to make sure all is well.

Finaly wash off any fluid using dry water as TD5 leccies do not like the wet version. :D

regards

Dave
