Power steering belt too short?

Happy Sunday all,
Just putting my engine back in to my 200tdi and struggling with the PS belt.
I’ve purchased a 13A0725 belt as I assumed that was correct but it is definitely way too short as although I can get it on if I remove the PS pump and bracket, the bracket ends up touching the front pulley.

I do think my mounting bracket may be incorrectly oriented although the adjusting grooves look correctly positioned but the square adjustment bit is what’s in the way

I’m wondering if this was because my car was originally a 110 200 that received a factory boxed TDI upgrade in its early life- but what do I know?

Just looked at an old pic of mine, and the belt is the same size you have bought.
If you get a minute measure the od of the pas pulley and I will check mine.

Thanks for posting PAS pulley diameter is to outer edges
Central pulley for pas is 14

Yeah well I was wondering if I’d messed up on orientation but I can’t see another way of attaching- a bigger belt would solve it but doesn’t answer the why!
