Power chip fault?

Hi all, i have recently purchased a 99 2.5 DSE. The dealer informed me when i bought it that it was fitted with a superchip, i have driven other 2.5's and this one was significantly quicker and returning 23 - 24 mpg, however, the battery went flat whilst having some interior modification, the garage say they recharged the battery and i have successfully reset all the windows and radio codes etc, but the problem is, it is now very sluggish on take off and only returning 18 mpg!! Does anybody know if the battery going flat could have affected the superchip? Any help or advice would be greatfully appreciated.

It has been suggested that if the Rangey was jump started rather than the battery charged this could of caused a power surge and affected the chip or ECU? Any thoughts?

mine is superchipped and i get 29mpg. I have also had mine jump started by the AA, but never had a problem like you describe. is the battery still going flat since it was jump started?

No the battery is fine, the only problem is the power and fuel consumption

That fuel consumption is awful! Mine (unchipped) gets 22 at the lowest, and if I take it easy I can get 30+ (I actually got 37.5 once believe it or not!), on a long trip usualy around 28-29. You sure your injectors aren't knackered?

The battery going flat can cause all sorts of weird problems with the P38.

Might be an idea to get onto Superchips (or whoever supplied the chip) and see if the chip needs a reset period or something like that. I remember on an old Audi when I changed the battery the engine management went into spasm for about 150 miles (ticking over at 1500rpm etc) until it sorted itself out and reset its parameters, then it was fine again.

Thanks for the advice Matt, will phone Superchips and ask them. This happened about 10 days ago and it just seems strange that it was fine until the battery went flat? At what sort of miles do the injectors start playing up? Mine has done 51k.Can you or anybody reading this recommend an decent Landrover specialist in Lincolnshire or East Notts?

The injectors should still be ok at that mileage, but it all depends on how it is driven, type of fuel you use etc.

If it is still bad after you have got it sorted out, try running a bottle of Forte Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment through it. You will need to find it online somewhere as it is a trade only product really and not available in stores.
