Hi guys,
Just looking for some advice. Have had my heart set on a range rover for years. Now in a position to make the dream come through hopefully in a couple of days. I'm seriously considering the following:

1999 Range Rover DSE

150,000miles with service history

Black leather, Electric Sunroof, Air Con, Cruise Control, New later model wheels & tyres, just serviced, fully valeted, new nct (irish mot), side steps, bull bar, range rover boot liner, roof rails. Also comes with original alloy wheels with tyres. Vehicle is described as mint.

Work done includes new water pump, new vicos fan, heavy duty battery, 4 suspension airbags, brake pads & discs all around, new wheel bearing, drag link.

Colour is silver.

Would ye think that this is a good buy??.

Thanks in advance for any advice

I paid £4850 for a November 2000 DHSE with 90K miles and FSH. 150K is quite a lot more miles so in my opinion that is top price. However prices in Ireland are probably different to the UK. In France a 99 DHSE Holand & Holand with 296K kilometres went for 9000 Euro on Ebay, thats why I bought mine in the UK.

Yes true, sons father in law lives in Spain and drove his 316 beemer back here to buy a Merc 4x4. Same car £5000 to £6000 cheaper here than in Spain. Also the beemer which had been run here for a few years and put on Spanish on plates when he moved over there, had a three months old Spanish MOT. When my son put it back on English plates he had to re MOT it, the Spanish one was not acceptable for some reason.

Well IMHO I'd say this was a bit on the high side (£4600+-), but being a pessimistic git I'd be asking why he's selling such a 'mint' car.

If it's a private sale, then do what you need to do, HPI check AA / RAC inspection. If it's a dealer then ask him for a 6 month warranty if he's confident in the car then it shouldn't be a issue.

Hi I am also looking to buy a 1999 to 2001 DT or Dse Range Rover. I would not buy that with 150000 on the clock. There are lots around at 100000 for the same money or less. Buy a late 99 onwards to get traction control on all four wheels. All have a good spec but in my experience garages talk up the car and think it is still worth a fortune even at 10 years old. It is a buyers market. I have been looking for over a month and have seen some right scrap described as mint!

My wife will sell you my one for half that no problem :)

But realistically €6,000 is too high. He probabably put it up by 2 grand on the back of the cold spell. He'll have a job to shift it anyway, the P38 reputation precedes it even in Ireland. 150,000 miles is high and you're looking down the barrel of driveline problems in the next 50k.

Where abouts are you?

irish medic. living in the west of ire, bought a 99 last feb, 92 k on the clock, full dealer history, no mot but that was in my favour, one airbag had been done ,and a steering draglink 2 do, cost me 50 stg and it passed the test. 150k miles is too much and 6000 is to much, keep looking, prices vary a little, but too me keep the mileage low and the years high on the p38 its your best hope , or you could be sorry and a big headache, p m me if you want more info and i ll call ya. nan-ber.

Problem is guys, very few P38's fully loaded in Ireland with relatively low miles. Even looking on ebay re the UK, they all seem to be 100k miles plus. Have been looking for well over a yr now. Have been lurking on this site for the last few months gaining input from various posts re the P38, hence my decision to get one & join up. There's one for sale in Dublin with 170k miles on it (year is 2000) for the same money (he's got some hope of shifting it). The one I am thinking about has been reduced from 7700euro obviously can shift it.

When I bought mine I would have got a later DHSE if I could, but then I found my DSE which had excellent history and low mileage, and that was more important than electric seats, sunroof, electrochromatic mirrors and traction control, none of which mine has - and in the time I've owned I think I made the right decision.

150,000 mls = saggy leather seats, urghh!
