the too do list:

When I look at series now, it breaks my heart to think what I did to the ones I owned in the 80s, when they were so cheap, they were almost disposable :eek:, you could pick up a series 2 for around £500.

Avoid stainless steel bolts with the body work they react badly with the alloy.
Is it a 2.25 if so how does the overdrive cope.

Hi guys thanks for the pointers. It is a 2.25 diesel with fairly overdrive. When I first got it I'd did well about 55 in forth with over drive and about 33mpg though top speed seem to have slacked off a bit since then down to 50 mph I think the injectors may be the main culprit but also the engine consumes some oil so maybe loss of compression as there is a slight blow past coming from the engine sump. Doesn't win any drag races but she gets up and going supprisingly quickly. Coughs out a load of white smoke on starting but steels to clear after a minuet. I'm pretty sure it is the later 5 main bearing engine.

Don't feel too bad...
In the early eighties you could buy a....
Aston Martin DBs v8
For about 5000 pounds!
Now!!
Its ......
95000 pounds:eek::eek:

Like your battery retaining strap! See you do not have servo brakes. Looks not bad for the age and being kept oot side. Like your tyres and safari roof. What are the high level lights; brake lights?

the high level light are just a pair of red reflectors. the battery strap came like that if it ain't broke don't fix it. major problem is i haven't got time to do the work myself so i have now racked up about as much in garage bills as i payed for it but, then i drive it a bit and forgive it.
