I have a 2004 Freelander TD4. There appears to exhaust gases escaping from close to the EGR/exhaust/turbo and around 2000rpm there appears to be a misfire/flatspot. Anybody any ideas? Cheers, Jonny.

for starters .. do the EGR bypass/delete mod
( 'search' this site for relevant info )

once that's done it will be one problem-making engine gizmo out of your way for good
plus the motor will breathe better 'n get better mpg ..

EGR/exhaust/turbo
that's a fair stretch of pipe ..
is it leaking at the egr end ??
( if so .. doing the egr bypass mod will solve that 'cause the clip has to be removed
( then refitted .. giving you a chance to seal it properly ..

Thanks for the info. Things have moved on a bit now!! I found that the exhaust gases were leaking from where the exhaust front pipe joins the turbo, but after along run on Saturday, the engine would only just restart, had only intermittent power, not enough to drive and the engine warning light on the dash flashed at me intermittently!! I think things have moved beyond me now but if anyone has had similar problems I would be interested to hear.

Turns out it was a electrical fault, a wire had broken somewhere and was making an intermittent connection.
Can anyone shed some light on the flexible exhaust front pipe connection? On mine there appears to be a gap of around 5mm between the exhaust flange and the turbo body. I can see the shank of the studs in this gap. The nuts won't tighten any further but I'm sure this cant be right. Any thoughts?
