got in my disco this evening and started her up, took off the handbrake and it came back, halfway up on its own. the handbrake light is on but the handbrake isn't applied, the lever sits just below the biting point, i will be having a look this weekend but i thought i would just see if any of you lot have experienced this ;)

The light will be operated by a switch on the handle so unless the handle is fully down the light wil not go out.

As for the reason that it is popping up I don't have a clue.

It could be that the spring that goes on the cable, thats inside the drum has snapped and not puttin pressure on the cable to pull it back and lever down, the handbake will still work but not return, i spose you will have to drop rear prop and take drum off mate.

aye, sorry to say, but almost certainly its the spring inside the drum.

its a landy ffs. cant ever be easy can it?

finally got around to sorting the handbrake this afternoon, after removing the prop and stripping the drum down, the actuator seemed stiff, so i took it all apart and cleaned everything up, decided to get the memsib to operate the h/brake lever just to make sure and found it was no different to before, took out the centre console only to discover the cable is seized, took the old cable off and tried to free it with plenty of lubrication with no joy whatsoever, only to find it was too late to go and get a new cable. looks like tomorrows job is sorted anyway. moral of the story is don't listen to the ****ers on here but check the simple things first ;)
