It looks like I'm going to have a problem.
This morning the glow plug light only came on for a fraction of its usual time. Car turned over and started ( lumpy) but cut out after a couple of seconds. Did it a couple of times then ran.
There is no smoke or steam on start up either
Has started and stopped all day long but was a bit lumpy again tonight after cooling down.
It was then OK for 10 days no problems at all.
Now its started doing it again and when it does this it sounds as though there might be air in the system. The tank is above half full and there are no leaks anywhere.
I'm thinking that there must be internal air getting inot the system and draing down the fuel. Then theres not enough pressure to get it started till after 3 attempts after which its a bit lumpy for a couple of seconds then runs fine.
The purge test also would let me believe there is air getting in as again you can here a gurgle during the pump running. Each time the cycle kicks off the pump has an initial higher pitch ( like lack of load/resistance) followed by a change in note when it sounds like it usually did.
Is there anywhere the air can get in internally?? or can someone explain the whole low pressure/high pressure pumping system to me please.
Discuss.

Thanks in advance.

What are the injector fuel bleed pipes like? Mine were leaking in air and it was behaving just like yours. Swapped them and no trouble since.
