my series 3 does about 12 mpg which hurts my wallet very much. I was wondering does anybody have info on lpg conversions and possible prices / fitting in the south yorkshire region? or failing that any ideas on how to improves its fuel economy without lpg?

Hi

Give Tinley Tech a ring they a specialist in LPG conversions. I would guess 12mpg is bad I get somewhere in the region of 20mpg out of my 3.5 EFi V8.

It might be worth checking to see if you are losing fuel somewhere in the line (Common place is the pipe as it leaves the filter). I have read that LPG you will lose somewhere around 10% bhp and only a few percent mpg. (gonna get a LPG conversion next week "Happy Bunny Time")

had our v8 gassed up last year but was recommended to a garage by someone who had already had a success story. ours is brill and doesn't seem to lose power even when towing, we don't look back as economy is great but be careful as there are some dodgy convertors that don't always know their stuff. many insurers also require the certificate of whoever carried out the conversion
