Polybush/deflex fitting problem

After relatively easily removing the old original bushes on the axle end of rear arms, tried to fit in deflex/polybush. Problem is, they don't seem to fit correctly and on or other is squeezed out by up to 2mm when the compression sleeve is fitted. How do you stop this, and if you dont, how do you then fit to the axle as its too wide? Thanks.

have you tried lots of slippy stuff ,oil,grease,washing up liquid ( fairy if its a gaylander)

do ypou mean that with the deflex bushes in place the arms wont fit back in the mounts on the axle?

Two things. Main initial problem is even with the use of slippy stuff, when pushing the compression sleeve in, whilst off the car, is squeezes out the bush on the side where it is being pressed in, and also on the opposite side. No amount of trying can these be pushed in with the tube in place. This results in the overall width of the bush assembly being too wide to fit in the axle.

right, what you do is fit one half of the bush, fit the sleeve, then put the other half of the bush on, then press em together in a vice, they will still be too big to get in the mounts so what you do is open up the mounts with a hammer then press the bar in with a bottle jack, you will need a small pick hook to make sure the rubber doesnt peel over as you are pressing the bar into the mount, fit the bolt but not the nut, then get the other end in place the same way before you fit the nuts and bolt it all up tight. as you tighten them up, the brackets will go back to the original positions. hope this helps

OK thanks, my main concern was over the fact that the "shoulders" on the bushes dont sit flush with the face of the radius arm, and are proud by 1 to 2mm each side. I have spent a couple of hours trying to eliminate this, by dismantling and reassembly, but the overall assembly looks the same each time. Gave up tonight, will have another go tomorrow.

do you not recommend them then ormus. i was toying with the idea of upgrading or rather changing mine as most are cracked and look knackered. my steering is also a bag o ****e

Are you sure they are the right ones? MM4X4 managed to send the weong kit out to my m8 even though they were supplied with the make, model, reg no. and chassis no.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the Deflex ones. Mine were fitted less than a year ago and are failing already even though they were definatly fited correctly. The torque wrench even got an outing! Deflex bushes are crap and as they fail I'm replacing them with genuines.
