So.....
squeal sqeal squeak flutter canary tweet etc etc.... from my Disco 300tdi
I took the car to Plymouth today.... same thing.
I left it for the Polish lads in the car park to clean out the inside (it was minging) and then come back to find they had jiggled the gear selectors around to clean the skirts on them. I selected high diff lock out.
AND THE NOISE HAS GONE
Obviously throughout the process over the last few days I had been in and out of low high diff lock etc but my diff lock light is knackered. I had felt the back end kick out a few times and thought 'bugger, that feels like transmission wind up!!!' but diff lock was deselected.
It appears that I need to 'jiggle the nob a bit' to ensure that it is out of diff lock
So what the hell was the squeaky fluttery noise?
I have managed to induce it again by selecting diff lock and deselecting.
