Not sure if I'm missing the 'projects' section or where these things normally get posted, so admin feel free to move to a more relevant location if required :)

Anyway- as I said in my intro;

I'm a new (part!)Owner of a disco in staffordshire...

After many years of "we'd quite like to..." My dad and I have finally got ourselves an off-roader

It's not the most perfect example in the world, and certainly not without its faults! But it should serve it's purpose of being a bit of a project but mostly just a toy :)

To our knowledge it has the following mods, some of which weren't listed in the ad!
  • Front Bull Bar with Spots
  • Winch with remote
  • Sump Guard
  • Front Diff Guard
  • 2" Suspension Lift
  • 2" Body Lift
  • Caster Correction Arms
  • Safari Snorkel
  • Roof Bar with Spots
  • Tow Bar with Electrics
  • Poly-Bushed

But that list will grow :)

Here's how it stood when we got it home

So, on wednesday last week my dad took it to a mate's garage to have a good look over it and to see what it needed

Turns out the list wasn't as short as we'd hoped so on saturday i took it up to the garage again and set to work!!

The day's result was: The full exhaust system has been replaced, arch extensions fitted and excess bodywork cut away, new winch bumper fitted, carpet and sound proofing all ripped out, new throttle cable fitted, fuel screw adjusted, fuel tension spring relaxed and some other fuel thing adjusted, new wheels and tyres fitted, new steering rack bars fitted and extended braided brake lines fitted :)

Few pics I took between the work...

Totally saturated carpet and sound proofing (other bits were worse but I was too wet for pics!)

Old and new steering bar, (apparently I didn't take a picture of the other one, which was actually bent!!)

An example of the quality old exhaust!

Showing some poke before we fitted the extended arches :)

Theres a few niggles to sort, but as far as major work goes, all that's left now is about a weeks worth of welding :p

Evening :)

Soggy carpets... so where's it coming in from? Does it have sun roofs?

Looks good though, gotta check when my MOT is out, but, intend to go for a bit of laning over the weekend if you fancy it?

Not just soggy; absolutely saturated!!

Not a sunroof model, no... The previous owner had been submerged windows deep and the door seals aren't THAT water tight! Since its only here to be abused carpets seemed pointless anyway!

I may well be free on Sunday if that's ok with you

Sunday might work, i'll let you know.

Yeah, door seals are just there for decoration really - if you end up in water prepare to get a wet backside! (Probably better than Bumps though!)

you don't know anyone with a spare D1 bonnet do you btw?

so, the disco has spent about a month in the garage being worked on...

but it's FINALLY back :)

it's had a LOT of welding done

Both rear arches
part of the boot floor
Both sills
Both Front arches

few pics of the work
