hi everyone,
Ive been having a bit of trouble with my freelander di for about 3 weeks now.........i swapped my 2003 vectra for a freelander di and to be honest im regretting it now

When i got the freelander the anger management (engine management) light was coming on when i kept a steady throttle after about 15 seconds and a loss of power but if i took my foot aff and back on again it was ok for a further 15 seconds or so..........

After my week holiday we got in the car to set off back and the light was on and didnt go off and i had the power loss all the way home nightmare! also the cars cut out twice since the light came on and when setting off the car chuggs a little or camels down the road slightly.

Ive read a previous post with a member having the same problem as me so im gonna check everything that was said in the last thread but does anyone have any ideas? im mechanically minded to an extent and i just wanna get it sorted now because to be honest its frustrating me now so ANY help will be much appreciated thanks in advance

I likes the comment about the anger management light. :D

Check hoses for air leaks. Also a fault code reader may be able to give you some error codes. Does it gain power again by pumping the accelerator pedal, as if the position sensor is the problem. Just a guess.

thanks hippo, got a fault code reader on it yesterday but my fault code reader wont work on freelanders typical!! im gonna have another good look today, check all pipes ect......
No that doesnt work if i pump the accelerator pedal either.
Im thinking either the TPS, CKS but how do i check if the CKS is working as it shold or do i just have to buy a new and see if that solves the problem?
TBH im starting to regret gettin my freelander now ive had it 5 weeks and had nothing but hassle with it!!!

also a friend of mine mentioned something abot a butterly valve on the turbo and the bearings collapsing on the butterfly valve?? can anyone shed any light on that because i didnt know what he was on bout??

Not all Freelander 1's are odbii complient, but some are. Yours is before the requirements are needed. So is mine, but I kept trying the reader many times and mine worked. think it changes languages each time. Enough to get fault codes. Failing that you'll need a garage to use Test Book T4 on it. Some independent LR garages have it. Normal charge is about £35.

i'll keep trying mine then but ive had a look today and i think its the number 1 injector because its missin a little now too. My next door but 1 neighbour came round for a nosey early and he seems to think its the pump but im not convinced (or hoping) which ever way you put it bt the match, petrol and insrance is looking favorable at min lol
