I have a 98 Disco Tdi, there is no patern to this problem that I quess I can detect so far it just seems to randomly be happening now. Below is problem and more problems.

When I am driving it all of a sudden feels like the engine is loosing power and start sputering the engine hasnt died or anything yet. if I floor the pedal doesnt do anything just stays the same some times it will drop a gear and go for a sec then same thing.

If I stick it in neutral when that happens the engine will rev normal like nothing is wrong but as soon as I put it in gear it happens again then it will just kick back to normal some times and start working other wise I play with gas a little or let go stick in neutral and coast a little then put it back in gear or step on gas real hard and it starts working again.

I have changed the fuel lift pump, fuel filter but any other sugestions would be appreciated as I have a long run on monday towing 1.5 tone.

I have tried to search the forum but I have not had much look trying to find the problem.

Trevor.

had similair a while back and it was the fuel sediment bowl that was partially blocked with crap.

Located above the axle on drivers side rear, undo the 7/16" bolt on top do not attempt to ondo the nylon wing nut at the bottom as they shear off. Be prepared for fuel running down your sleeves etc. Bleed the system once the bowl is cleaned out and refitted (there is a plastic piece that is at the top it looks like an impeller that is normally where the "wax" collects so don't forget to pull it off the threaded bolt)

might be usefull to top it back up with some clean derv again, done mine and didnt need to bleed it, just fired up and ran perfect strait away.

if your doing that you might aswell do the fuel filter that on the bulkhead at the same time, 2min job. for a couple of quid.

i had exact same problem, didnt try sediment bowl, thats on me list of to-do's lol, mine was being caused by the EGR being so coked up it was sticking open coupled with a collapsing turbo inlet hose.
