Hello everyone, major issue stopping my work vehicle working. Please help..

I was driving at work and noticed coolant weeping from the hose (see photo).
Not too long after noticing the leaking coolant there was quite a large 'pop/bang', followed by lots of steam coming from the engine. The core plug has blown out. (See second photo).
There has been a few issues with the vehicle starting (maybe a completely separate issue but I thought I'd mention it), where I have to mess about with some wires in order for it to fire up. It did slightly lack power for a few seconds on and off yesterday but then drove okay. All the levels were fine on completing my daily inspection (for work).
The vehicle itself doesn't do many miles but is run for around 7 hours a day on and off.

Any ideas what I would be?

I mean sounds like you’ve found the acute issue. You’ll need another core plug. Had it been over heating? Hoses do leak so either need to fix or replace. I can’t see for sure but are you certain it’s the hose that’s leaking and isn’t coolant being sprayed from elsewhere? Headgasket, radiator other hoses etc?

what engine is it and what wire do you have to fiddle with to get it started?

Hello, thanks for the reply. Can't say for sure where the coolant was leaking from but im sure it's coming from that that connects the top of radiator to the engine.
The wire I have to mess about with is a yellow relay box/junction box.. More often, I will turn the ignition key and the temp gauge will go straight up to red hot (even when starting from cold), and then doesn't fire but will crank. Then after a fiddle/squeeze of the yellow relay box thing, it will work okay.
I'm running a td5 90. 34k miles.

Thanks for the help
