have you tried cranking engine over with all injector pips disconnected if it has a cav rotary pump they can some times be hard to prime
+1 - Indeed they can:) ( which is why towing it was suggested above:))

Just to let you all know yesterday we did some work on the Landy and moved the diesel pump position to a couple of locations and nothing happened but on the last try we turned the pump the total opposite position to where it was at the start as far as it could go round, connected all the injector pipes back up, warmed up the glow plugs, sprayed come ignition starter into the engine while turning her over and........
Boom she started !!!! :) :) , She sounds well and left her running a while and all is good.

Only problem now is there seems to be a lot of grey / white smoke coming out the exhaust even when she is warm, is this the pump needs moving slightly back or is this something else ?

We SO glad she started tho :) Thanks everyone.

Sounds extremely similar to what has recently been going on with my s3, for a year i had a no starter, no fire no nothing, retimed the injection fully then it finally started after i'd really mastered the bleeding, having replaced the entire fuel system, but it struggled to start and was unbearably smoky even when hot. I have recently removed the whole pump again coz of a leak and in doing that got the timing dead on, and its never started or run cleaner and happier for it. Struggled with it for a year and a bit so all but accustomed to bleeding the bugger, with new timing i didn't even have to crack the injector pipes from empty lines! (brand new glows in there n all) Give us a shout, for me it was turning the pump back about 5 degrees max! Which is as far as it could turn that way, but dead on the mark so easy to reallign properly for me :)
