Please help range rover sport windscreen random

Hi i have a 2006 range rover sport, it's the basic model and has a heated windscreen but just the glass? There's no switch to turn it on. Maybe it's an aftermarket one fitted I'm not sure? Is this normal?
I'm assuming I won't be able to add a switch as he wiring won't be there?
Any help would be great thank you

Have you read the owners manual? Maybe it's automatic looking at all the electronic gizmos that are fitted on the new models

Yes, it should have a separate button to heat the screen. Mine just has a blower lie normal cars. The button is a blank in my car. It definatly has the elements in the glass tho? I was kind of hoping the wiring would be there and I could add a switch and get it so working. "Wishful thinking"

Sounds like the screen has been replaced at some time for the wrong one.
The wiring may well be there, but getting it to operate will almost certainly need diagnostics to enable it in the BCM.

Yes that's what I was thinking as nothings straight forward on these. Hopefully someone on here may of had the same problem and it might not be too hard to do?
I will look for the wiring later to see if it's there

It's weird as the windscreen says land rover on it so it looks genuine? Strange?
Mine definatly has a blank where the heated switch would be

Several screens are quoted on Microcat. Less heated screen and rain sensor. With heated screen and rain sensor. Maybe as said screen has been replaced with heated screen to replace none heated screen which was fitted from new.

I thought the same, I just thought it was weird as it says land rover on it. I'm going to look for the wiring at weekend. Fingers crossed

If it says Land Rover, it will probably crack or leak before the weekend.

Could maybe have had a replacement switch pack with the wrong one

What’s the date code on the windscreen?

If you put your VIN in TOPIx I believe you can get the spec for free after registering

I was not aware of a date code but I will look for it. I can't see anyone going to land rover for a replacement screen and paying extra for a heated one.. I'll look at that site too thank you

Windscreen likely replaced by fitting company via insurance, wrong one ordered but fitted anyway?
Maybe they make more profit that way and it's deliberate.

Had a genuine heated replacement on my L322 at LR, heard it was nearly £800, and the box rattled when it arrived, another week for 2nd attempt to arrive, in one piece thankfully.

I could just imagine lr genuine part would be 3 times the price but I suppose if insurance are paying then its ok

you could simply do alternate wiring using a switch & timer relay ? That way no programming or interfacing to BCM, etc.

I have just been looking at the aftermarket defender wiring kit. Seems cheap and straight forward to do
