Hello,
I have a 2006 Freelander 1 2.0 TD4, I had lumpy tickover and following advice found on this and other sources I got a Rover Ron MAFAM and replacement MAF (Not Bosch) as it appeared as though this would cure the problem, initialy it appeared to, but after a run 150+ miles however it appears to have re-occured.

Yesterday after a trip back from the coast 80+ miles I tried to start her straight away and she would tickover for 2-3 seconds and cutout, no respnse from throttle either it took 10-15 minutes to get her to start and run properly.

Would this suggest fuel pump issues??

Other than tickover and initial pickup I am very happy with the performance - pulls well in all gears above 2000 rpm.

I have also fitted an EGR bypass.

When I bought the vehicle it had just come back from Landrover dealer having had 2 injectors replaced to cure hot start problem.

Thanks
Sean

I recently had similar symptoms, lumpy tick over, but fine once it was moving. As it was going OK I took my time getting advice, looking for quotes (I decided it was probably an injector on the way out) but after a couple of weeks (but a lot of miles) it failed in a big way, leaving me stranded at the side of a duel carriageway. My AA subs were good value this year!
My point is, don't put it off just because it is only affecting tick over.

I had seen that thread but I thought I would ask the question anyway as it is the first time I have had the hot start issue, althogh I cannot definately remember having tried to start her so quickly before.

Thank you
Sean

good test fer the cam shaft position sensor is freeze it [the aerosol stuff plumbers use to freeze pipes] spay the sensor if it wont start [when hot] if it starts straight orft . . . . .keep the spay or change the sensor :)
