Hi my names Nicole and my fiancée has been working on his land rover each day (rain, hail or shine) for weeks now however it's seems to be causing him one problem after another :( now although my fiancée is an extremely tolerant and patient man I can see he's starting to reach his limit with his disco... Hence why I'm here. Ok... I know you'll probably require more info than I have so far but if you will bear with me I will happily gather all the info we need as its requested.
His disco is a 1993 land rover discovery.
It won't start. It fires but won't crank over. There is power going to the fuel pump but not the injectors. I've been reading the threads all day and have found some great suggestions that I will go over with him tomorrow :)
There's only battery light and park brake light on dash. Also I know he's replaced the distributor cap (genuine part) (initially thinking that would fix it) however still not starting. (firing order is correct).
Ok will post this now and hope those who read it don't end up as confused as myself, apologies everyone i definitely don't claim to know about cars especially four wheel drives but I do love my hubby so pls help if your able ... Sincerely Thank u in advance for your reply knowledge and time cheers Nic

It's your lucky day, I went out to one on our rescue section and this is what part of the problem was

If you are saying that there is 12v ignition feed to injectors- but not firing check coil wiring and suspect ignition amplifier.

The distributor has a trigger wheel that turns to pulse a pickup the signal from the pickup causes the ignition amplifier to switch earth on ignition coil.
The switched earth also is sent to ecu to tell it to fire injectors.

If coil looks old and manky, coil amplifier and thermal paste are about thirty pounds uk

If there is no ignition feed to body earth detected at injectors then check fuses and report back
Look for allmakes or bearmach supplier-avoid britpart

So how long did it take to write the post? He was your fiancée at the start and your hubby by then end....:)

Haha yeh ok guess that's a little funny but completely irrelevant!!!
Anyway back to the disco... I'm not exactly sure how but he's got her running :) I read him the only serious genuine reply (cheers "fanatic" you rock) and within 2and half hours she was idling the next issue I think is working out back fire problems and how to get her to run smoothly. Think I might go back to forums cheers again fanatic hope to hear from u again :)

Remove the distributor cap and gently twist rotor-it should move soothly and spring back, if it is sloppy or doesn't spring smoothly back post results

Also immobiliser spider a possibility, but explanation of what it is not doing spark fuel would help
