please help fuel problem

my 200tdi disco engine in a defeder 90 has just started giving problems it will start fine and run then drive it upthe road alright when he comes to a junction or got to stop the engine just cuts out then it takes ages to start it again please i need answers soon

bad live connection on the fuel pump shut off valve it relies on a constant live from the ignition switch to be open if it loses current itll shut off as soon as you let yer foot off the revs to check if its fecked look on top of the fuel pump on the engine if theres a little diesel leaking round the little plug thingy with 1 wire on top replace the thingy

might be oh and its started running like crap now. but when we first put the engine in about a month ago when we went uphill it would jerk slightly all the time but it stopped doing that

Are you getting air in the fuel filter? Check the bleed screw on top to see if it bubbles. If so then I would check your fuel line for cracks.
Mine had the same problem so I replaced the fuel solenoid, lift pump, sedimenter seals, fuel filter and flexible fuel pipe. Only then did I notice a slight crack in the L shaped pipe that leaves the sedimenter. A quick trip to B&Q for some 8mm copper pipe, out with the flaring tool and Hey Presto! The old girl's running a treat.
