play in turbo

hi all

ive recent had a lot of back pressure thro rocker cover and dipstick as stated in my other threads.any how i eventually got the head off and found the head gasket blown on the rear pot,chunky of the metal ring on gasket gone towards the were the push road goes. so could this be were im getting my back pressure from? now ive had the pipes off the turbo and there was oil in the pipes and intercooler also the spool in the turbo has a slight play about a 1mm would this oil be off the turbo it self or poss thro the head gasket any thoughts appreciated andy

By "play" do you mean the turbo impeller shaft??

was it very smokey then ??
what was your sympthoms before deciding to take the head off

hi yes the play is in the shaft like i said about a 1mm,sypmtons before head off were burning smell of oil no loss of coolent,struggle to tick over as if running on 3 cylinders,engine smoked like a train from rocker cover and dipstick but as soon as foot down and got to 2 on rev counter u could feel the kick in with the turbo once above this speed it felt normal but just stinking of burning oil coming to stainonary smoke from under the bonnet lol

nuffing wrong with your turbo !!
its been burning it own oil... between piston 3 and 4 is a common place for the head gasket to go ......... hopefully you wont have to many problems , best check your valves aswell while the heads off
