Plastic Storage Boxs

Can anyone recomend these ?

Looking for some good quality storage boxs

I don't have them but they look really nice and I think they would be brilliant

They look pretty

I use the cheapest plastic box I can find. Or banana boxes

Rubbish.

Plastic clips snap, they only come in one size.

Bought 3 cheap boxs (not) last month and bust them all one way or another the first weekend we used them

Was interested in the paddocks ones as they post cheap to France !

I thought that might have been the reason

Lots of people use them so if the size is right then go for it. Be worth stocking up on the clips though as they are easily lost or snap with age. there are 4 per box.

I have found euro sized grey boxes similar to these very useful. I buy mine from http://solentplastics.co.uk/stacking-plastic-containers-boxes/ which seems to be a good price. They also have the really useful box range that offer other sizes but are not as strong.

Look to be similar prices to Paddys with a lid !

Grigg do you reckon them from Paddys would take the hammer on a roof rack or are they more internal use .

The Wolff boxes will be ok on the roof but they are not waterproof or dustproof. Hannibal do a roofrack bag that you can put 2 or 3 in. These are reasonably cheap and work very well but still not totally waterproof.

Yes Solent do the same range but the EU boxes are all fixed sizes (to fit on pallets) usually made by Allibert. Material is the same as those I outlined. Plastor do both also.

I have been in touch with Paddys who in turn got in touch with their supplyer that says them there box's are supplied to the South African army and clips won't break unless lid is slammed shut with clip in wrong position !! Anyway can get 4 spare clips for 5 snakes and delivery per 2 boxs to France would be another 5 snakes.

Seem's a bit expensive but not got a problem with that as long as they last, kin sick of all this cheap throw away crap that's flying about !!!

Just because they are used by the military does not mean they are good

Google around the forums and you will find plenty about people trying to source spare clips.

Also, I doubt 'flatdog' provide the military. Their boxes are just copies of the original wolff boxes from S.A. Wether they are the same/better/worse quality than the originals I do not know.

Local DIY joint has got some German alu locker type boxs but they nearly £60 a pop and feel thin & poxy, don't look like they would last 10 mins on a roof rack .

Got some ex army amo boxs but they weigh a ton empty

Already useing some light weight steel canteen boxs,rusty, beaten to **** but still going maybe some more of them is the way to go !

Would make some out of Marine ply but that's £70 quid a sheet depending on thickness here !

I agree with Griffdowg. I imagine the flatdog boxes are copies of the wolf boxes which people say are pretty hardwearing.

I thought about getting some flatdog boxes a while back 'cos I thought they weren't too expensive when compared with other expedition type storage. Then I saw some at Land Rover show, and they seemed really flimsy. Probably okay for bouncing around in the back of the landy, but I think they would soon chip, and snap.

Luckily there's an office supplies surplus place about 10 miles from me, which sells all kinds of second hand stuff, boxes, racking, rope access eqpt, (you even find an old tirfor in there from time to time), and they usually have plenty of these in all shapes and sizes. I got two, for the grand sum of £2 each.

The other good boxes are the royal mail ones letters are delivered in the cages to offices in. Get them in and out work 3 times a day

Just bought 2 more but smaller canteen type metal boxs (20 snakes each), hinged lid and you can padlock them shut! I'm going to bolt them to me roofrack .

Bollix to that plastic crap (on the roof rack) better the devil you know than the one you don't !

Bought 4 exrental boxes from plastor. 8.50 ish. Huge!!

24ltr Really useful boxes from Trago Mills they's got a warehouse full of surplus stock 2nd's £4 each normally £12 each (Approx)

We use "totes". These are the plastic boxes that clothes shops get their goods delivered in. Heavy duty plastic, not at all brittle, built in hinged lids, very hard wearing.
Speak nicely to your local clothes stores. Got ours for free a couple of years back, still going strong.

Got some of these. They dont stack as is but putting ply lids on. Very tough.

I use the "Really Useful Boxes" range as well.

Picked them up from Tesco of all places at great prices compared to everywhere else I could find inline at the time. I can stand on the lids without damage, they are stackable and resist water ingress very well. I use them for everything from camping kit to food and recovery kit. Even got a big one that holds all my chainsaw kit.
