Does anyone here have 1st hand experience of owning a Pinzgauer? Looking for some general advice.
I would love to say I've owned one. But I haven't. They are a lot smaller than you might think they are. Very cool. But whenever I've looked at them the prices seem crazy. Volvo C303 might make a good alternative to look at too. Or maybe a Unimog depending on how many seats you are wanting.

You are right about the size....pictures are deceptive because of proportions. I did briefly look at the volvo but they are hard to find but ended getting a Pinz

I'm looking for someone to do some work that has previous experience. Nothing major but one thing I'm looking to do is an LPG Conversion. Is yours converted to Lpg or did you get a diesel replacement?

No, its a bog standard petrol. We've looked into diesel conversions but its a pain as the engine needs to lean over to fit which means a new sump, oil pump etc. so we gave it up. It has been done though, probably by someone in the States as they are much more popular over there.

We've never looked into LPG as we don't do enough miles for fuel to be a problem. They are however very forgiving on fuel quality, at least according to the manual, so that may be something to look into? (veg oil in a petrol.........??)

As for someone to do work, the only people we know are Shropshire Gun Bus who we bought ours from but I dont know if they only do the import side of things, it may be worth giving them a call though.

In my opinion the Pinzgauer knocks the spots off my 200tdi series 3 in terms of ability and engineering quality and is far more practical than my dad's 110 station wagon. The only trouble is that its left hand drive which can make turning left a T junctions a bit fun, also parts can be expensive - but then compared to a LR it hardly every goes wrong!

Sorry that wasnt much help, its nice to see another driver out there though as they're great machines.

It's very reassuring to hear from another owner so thanks! Yes left turns are a problem but that's about my only concern too....... and finding someone with experience of them. I'm hoping to get it converted to Lpg.

A tip when doing a left turn at a T junction. Pull up as though you are going to turn right. I.e. The road position so you are 90 degrees to the white line of the junction/square on the junction. Rather than swung over to the left with the vehicle at an angle. This way you can easily see out of the passenger window. Rather than having to look diagonally out the side/back.

Thanks but I already own one. I'm looking to get some useful contacts to do some work on the vehicle. But I might contact them anyway, maybe they can recommend people. Cheers

Ah sorry I misunderstood. Top tip make sure the isolator behind the passenger seat is replaced with a decent new one. They're prone to causing a short and totally draining the batteries. Keep an eye on the gear oil too, religiously because they absolutely rinse the stuff after prolonged off road use.

Thanks for your tips anyway. My isolator is outside the cab on the drivers side so maybe it has been replaced. Will definitely keep an eye on oil levels. Cheers
