i have part of the footwell off - it was all some type of filler that was holding it together, i have got a little further with the footwell which i will take pictures of tomorrow and post them ....
not heard anything about this bulkhead, he was supposed to put pics on, so that i knew i wasnt buyig something worse than i already have ..... lol ;;;;;
i will keep plugging away each day and take photos of the advancement....
cheers

oh and I notice you have a rubber strip glued to your accelerator pedal, is that normal? I always thought the bare metal was standard for landy accelerators

official ones have 6 lugs that bend round the pedal, you can just see them in the pic. think it was an optional extra unless you got the deluxe station wagon.

not sure whats standard or not on this landy - think the 2 ton of filler must have been factory supplied lol..... yeah a lot of work on this baby beast, but its going to be worth it, still on look out for welder and then i will come for a master class, still waiting to hear about he other bulkhead..... aparantly all it needs is the floor pans and a strip on door pillar....

Ouch, more holes in it than a teabag!

Nah, seen worse, but still not very pleasent. Rest of her looks in fair shape though. What's the chassis like? Are you planning on splitting the body down for respray / body work off the chassis or as is?

Best Of Luck,

Matt

hi matt, the more i delve the more holes and filler i find....
my plan is to take the body off and repain/respray (dont know what colour yet. already started the bonnet and doors, got loads of primer ready, will have to wait till summer to take it all of as i have no garage and dont want bits going missing,
intend to sort bulkhead out with help from a member and then going to look at springs, shocks, service, new rubbers all round, new seats (compfy leather ones)
and a few bits and pieces that i think need replacing/upgrading
not sure what i am going to do about the dash yet (put old one back on or make a mdf one myself.... any suggestions

Doesnt surprise me! I remember starting mine thinking, give me a summer and a small amount of cash and she'll be rolling in time for the winter. Well, here we are in Jan and she's nearly (but not quite!) finished! Hopefully be wrapped up at Easter (at uni, so can only work on her when i'm back home for hols). Remember my bulkhead not being much better than yours, decided to go for a galvanised bulkhead from Ashtree in the end, to match the new galvanised chassis. Body works nearly finished on her now, tub all finished and sprayed, new front wings (inner & outer), new floor and rear quarter panels on the tub (didn't just wack in checker plate, replaced with aluminium, never understood why people just wack in plate to cover up a crap floor..). Only wings & roof to paint before she's pretty much sealed up again. Then it's electrics..

Only advice would be to pace yourself. Several times I found myself at a real loose end with the thing, sucks hours and hours out of you - quite literally drains you. If you havnt got a workshop, I would reccomend working in very small steps. To strip a vehicle down takes days, to rebuild one takes months. Its easy to get caught up in excitement (I did!) and break them down. Don't take things off unless you have to - silly things like inner wing mounts just start to cease to exist once you start disturbing them. Best of all try and have fun doing it (though granted, of all the words I describe my project as, 'fun' is not one of them). Just make sure she doesnt end up on ebay as an incomplete project!

Best of luck though - look forward to seeing the results!

Matt

cheers matt
well i think after them bits of advice - i will make a plan as to what to do in each stage (without putting a time limit on them) - my problem is i keep jumping from one thing to the next (ie sanding bonnet - them moving onto door) think its my attention span lol....
it certainly wont go on ebay as an unfinished project (might appear in lots of individual spares tho lol) - my one problem is that the missus wants it back on the road (its our only vehicle) and she is nagging me to just do what needs doing to get it through the mot.. i keep telling her that if we do it properly come the mot we wont have any worries and it will be easier to keep on the road. also keep telling her they are getting rarer and rarer and its an investment lol

hi neil
i thought about a run around, would help with collecting spares etc but then i thought if i did that i would spend all my time during the day been a taxi for her indoors and her daughter (and they both want to learn to drive) (think its nearly time for me to move on to the next unsuspecting female) lol ....
it would make things easier but i think i would rather spend the money on doing this vehicle up and hopefully by the time its on the road they will be used to walking and catching buses......
although saying that - with your fantasic offer it would be difficult for me to get there at the times you are available , but i could lay my head down at my parents just round the corner... anyway was planning on giving you a call or text tomorrow

if you want to lay your head at your folk's place, i could pick you up from the station, or if the bulkhead comes off or you get a workable replacement within reasonable distance, can help with transporting it over here for works.

your a star neil, thanks for all the help etc, shame your not a busty blonde with big diffs and airbags to match lol, i may be coming over next week to see the old folk (just so that he remembers me in the will) - got to ask your workshop is behind the motorhouse (think thats what its called) was that not a carpet place at one time???

just found your taboo thread!

your not far off with the shop, its not the carpet place but i'm not telling you on a public forum!
i'll talk you thru it on the phone.

a little bit more work today - inspired by RHINO but not quiet as quick as him:D
